Aljezur Castle. National Monument, the castle of Aljezur, founded in the tenth century by the Arabs during the Muslim occupation of the Algarve, was taken by the Christians, led by D. Palo Peres Correia in 1249. Reportedly was the last castle to be conquered in the Algarve during the reign of King Afonso III. Although already quite degraded, still retains its approximately walls (fourteenth century) and two towers.
By way of curiosity, off Depth of Carrickfergus is shipwrecked by the beach Bordeira of the ship La Condessa.
