Aquileaia, still retains many monuments of its past, particularly important are the ruins of the Forum, the remians of the river port, the bell tower and especially the Basilica with its beautiful mosaic floor, one of the oldest in Christianity. Only 10 Km from Trieste airport, Aquileia is well connected by public transport both to Trieste and Venice, as well as a good stop by on one's way to Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. The sandy beaches of Grado are only 10 minutes by bus and in summer speed boats connect the resort to Trieste and Croatia.
