| I forgot to hand in my list of repairs to the Manager.
1. the Hot-water tap in the Self-catering Kitchen-right side
was leaking for most of the week.
It needs a handy-man to sort out.
2.Room number 123....the door of the storage cupboard had come off and was left on the side on the floor.
It needs replacing.
3. The corridor next to room 123-the large shower-room on the right....the shower head needs a new holder to secure.
Its a pity that this has just been left on the side as it is a very simple repair job.
So....please pass onto the Manager to action.
also
ask him to send a staff member out and purchase some mugs for the Kitchen....this would be a great help.
The Hostel is in a nice location and in November it is nice to visit...when the crowds are less.
This time ...no school groups...what a relief!!!!
Thank You | ||

| Loved the place and will stay there again if we return to Lake District. Only problem was with car parking but that is a problem for everyone who lives in the UK and who owns a car. | ||

| The staff that worked at the Hostel were really friendly and helpful. I was not entirely happy with my stay though. There was a terrible smell of urine in the toilet near our room which made it impossible to use and there were a few other smells around the 3rd floor as well. Unfortunately we left very disappointed with our last night there. We asked the bar manager if there was a place to get a roast dinner near by and he directed us to a pub in the town. The meals were all finished when we got there at about 7.30, as were the meals at the other hotels, so we headed back to eat at the hostel for a meal. We arrived as about 10 past 8pm and the bar manager wouldn't let us order a meal even though they were still taking meals out until 8.40. I cannot see how we could not have had a soup or a salad. He even waved a pizza under our noses in a joking manor which did not impress me at all. There should be some flexibility. We had no meal that night. | ||

| No soap in washroom on main floor once. Part of ceiling in bedroom damp--I reported the problem. With one exception, all staff notably friendly and helpful. Food excellent and good value for money. A very enjoyable stay once again. I warmly recommend this hostel. | ||

| Small kitchen and dining room relegated to the worst part of the building in favor of the restaurant in a panoramic position, as unfortunately in many other YHA hostels in england .... a real shame because the kitchen was the place where you usually meet people and traditions of different countries, cultures .... the essence of the hostels ... | ||

| Tour operators should instruct their groups to be a bit more considerate of other guests at hostels. Just because young Chinese adults need to get up early does not mean that they should be so loud and stampeding about the place like a herd of elephants. Given the tranquil environment of Ambleside, guests should equal opportunity to enjoy peace and quiet. | ||

| my only comment would be the need for a better vacuuming of the carpets in the bedrooms and perhaps a sweep of the stairs now and again near the cafe on the way up to the bedrooms.....they were very dusty | ||
