For conferences, workshops and music courses there are 4 common and conference rooms available (for 16 – 50 people), equipped with beamer, slide and overhead projector, screen, pin board, flip chart, screen, lectern, blackboard, presentation material, TV, DVD player, VCR, computer screen, HiFi with CD player, piano and conference service (paper & transparency printer, photocopier, fax). We have a specialist library and microscopes for eco and nature workshops!
Leisure facilities inside the hostel include board games and Internet. Outside there is a children’s playground, a huge grass play area, a basketball field, a football pitch as well as a barbecue area.
Rates:- Families: children up to the age of 2 free of charge; children aged 3 – 14, 50% reduction on total price. Groups: for groups of 20 people or more and at least 2 overnights with full board, 2 persons free of charge; nursery schools €2 reduction per person per night.
Full board and other catering options available. We welcome families, schools, conferences, training courses, music groups and choirs, holiday, bicycle and walking groups as well as individual travellers!
Situated on the river Ahr meandering its way through rugged rocks and vineyards on steep, sunny slopes, the town of Altenahr is made up of the 3 areas of Altenburg, Kreuzberg and Reimerzhoven. This is the starting point of the “Red Wine Walk”. Over 100km footpaths, lookouts offering breathtaking views, mountain huts and a chair lift will help you explore this unique landscape. In the conservation area Langfigtal you can discover rare animals and plants. Here you’ll also find the conservation youth hostel. The ruins of Are castle and the picturesque parish church bear witness to over 1000 years of history. Various leisure facilities make for an exciting holiday and you’ll never be bored. Activities include horse riding, fishing, tennis and crazy golf and on the riverside walk there is an open air chessboard to be used free of charge. The summer toboggan run is an attraction popular with all ages. Sports and leisure: bike rental, children’s playgrounds, tennis courts, football pitch about half a mile from the hostel, swimming pool 15km, horseriding, summer tobbogan run, fun pool TWIN and thermal spa in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Sites: the world’s oldest winegrowers’ cooperative in Mayschoß, the Nürburgring racetrack, medieval city wall and Roman villa in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler etc. Day trips: Nürburgring racetrack and leisure park, Maria Laach Abbey, Lake Laach and Nature Museum St Winfried; Brohltal and Osteifel Volcano Parks, Bonn with König Natural History Museum; Siebengebirge Mountains and Drachenfels Rock; Middle Rhine trip with Marksburg Castle in Braubach, Cologne Sightseeing, Cathedral and museums, Phantasialand leisure park in Brühl etc. For cyclists: Improved cycle path from Schuld/Ahr to the mouth of the Ahr river in Sinzig; mountain biking in the Eifel Mountains, to Steinerberg Mountain, along the Red Wine Walk etc. Bike rental at Altenahr train station.
