Alta Vandrerhjem has a peaceful location just outside Alta. The hostel is surrounded by pine forest and several lakes where you can go hiking, swimming and pick berries. It is possible to go fishing both in nearby rivers and in the ocean. It is approximately 10 km to the city centre of Alta, which is the largest city in Finnmark. You will here find both shopping centres, cultural sights like the world famous UNESCO listed rock carvings, restaurants and night life. Easy to take day trips from Alta to North Cape, Hammerfest and Kautokeino. In addition to peace and quiet it is also possible to attend several activities at the hostel such as canoe trips and fishing.
We open at 07:00 and close at 23:00, but it is possible to contact us at the hostel during the night as there are staff present.

We are located app. 10km south of Alta City Centre. Follow the signs towards Narvik. Please note that it might be difficult to stay at the hostel with no car.
