The Hostel, set in the historic building of the old prison, next to the Alhama River bank, has just been refurbished. The Rioja town of Alfaro was an iberian settlement: Ilurcis, that later on, during the Muslim occupation, was called Al Faruh, the lighthouse. In the area around it, there are important archeological, celtic and roman remains, the Collegiate Church of San Miguel, a Historic Monument, where a large colony of storks nest.
