The Vikings founded this town at the narrowest point in the fjord. Their burial site was at Lindholm, which can still be seen today. The city contains many old buildings from its glory days. Aalborg is still one of the country's major trade and industrial centres. There is only a short distance from Aalborg to the mild east coast and the rougher western coast. Aalborg is a charming city with many shops and many restaurants in the famed street "Jomfru Ane Gade". DANHOSTEL Aalborg is located in a recreational area with a marina, racing track, playing fields, open-air pool and many other activities, such as crazy golf, BMX track, tennis courts and many playgrounds for children. | It was fine. However I thought it was strange that the Danhostels in Jutland were more expensive than in Copenhagen. | ||

| This could be a very nice hostel if it was better maintained and serviced.
The bungalows seem to attract mainly young danish listening to loud music and drinking beer all day although it is located so nicely along the fjord.

| * The curtains were very thin, which made it difficult to get the children to sleep as we were staying there in summer when the sun sets very late. Thicker/darker curtains would have made our stay easier!
