Set in a gracious building from 19th century, the Lisbon Centre hostel is located in Lisbon city centre right next to Marques de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade. The Picoas Metro Station (Yellow Line) is practically on the doorstep! This truely central hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in Portugal, and one of four hostels in the Lisbon area. Monuments, museums, churches and nightlife are easily accessible by bus or metro, or even on foot. There are also great stadiums in Lisbon (Sporting and Benfica) where you can attend major football matches and music concerts. When you feel like getting away for the hustle and bustle of Lisbon city life there are sandy beaches only 15km away!
This Lisbon youth hostel accommodates 174 guests in a choice of 13 twin ensuite rooms (one suitable for wheelchair access), 1 double ensuite room and 31 dorms with a maximum capacity of 6 persons. The hostel offers a lively vibrant atmosphere, including a Cafe and Bar, 24 hour access, Internet and Wi-Fi, Laundry and Luggage Storage.

| The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. That includes the front desk, and the kitchen and cleaning staff. The lockers in the dorms were large and roomy enough to secure all my belongings and use as a cupboard at the same time. I was unwell most of the time I was there, and felt very comfortable to lounge around all day using the internet in the common area of sleeping in my room. | ||

| Locker policy is confusing, sometimes it's free sometimes it is double the price? Wifi is not very accessible in the hostel only in the lobby. | ||

| Excellent location only 15-30 minutes walk from absolute downtown (castle).Excellent breakfast with great choice and self-service.Very helpful staff.
2 points for improvement:
a)The directions for getting to the hostel in English were very poor and non-reassuring.
b) The 8.30 start for breakfast is late for travellers (but consistent with 10.00am general start in the country. | ||

| The first night, someone broke into our car that wat parked before the entrance. But the staff was very supporting. | ||

| No communal area so the large school groups had nowhere to go but the hall. The bar area upstairs at the back was mega cold and very uninviting. Perhaps in the summer season a better place. The food area was only open during breakfast and dinner, no microwave or other possibility to heat some food. A huge difference from your hostel in Granada. | ||

| the restrooms are very dirty, even after cleaning. the toilet seats are dirty too, you do not want to use these restrooms. the shower stalls are way to small and calcified.
Nothing special about the breakfast. WiFi only in the reception area, no wifi in the rooms. The Hostel is located 1 minute from the metro station "picoas".
Hostel staff is very friendly, cooperative and helpful.
