The hostel is located on a beautiful hillside overlooking the lake Åmänningen in the small village of Ängelsberg. Here we have the UNESCO world heritage site of Engelsberg, an historical industrial site with preserved quarters dated from between 1600-1800. From the hostel garden you can overlook the "Oil island", the world´s oldest preserved oil refinery built 1876. You can visit both sites on guided tours all weekends until the end of september. Due to the industrial legacy and also a community of painters that settled here around 1900, we have many houses with a spectacular architectural background. Preferably you should stay here at least two nights. Take a stroll through the village and through the sculpture park towards the heritage site, get a coffee in one of our cafe´s, enjoy the lake view, read a book and use the hostel sauna in the evening and you will then sleep like a baby. We also have lots of suggestions for daytrips.
