Because of the beauty of its buildings, baroque temples and plazas, as well as for its historical significance, the UNESCO declared Guanajuato a World Heritage site. To walk through its narrow and cobblestoned streets is an adventure in itself. Nightime is the time for the traditional “estudiantina” musicians that walk the streets as bands of singing groups. Don’t forget to visit the Temple of the Compañìa, the Church of San Francisco, the Alhondiga de Granaditas, the house of Diego Rivera and the impressive Museum of Mummies. Since 1972, Guanajuato has been the host of the International Cervantino Festival, one of the most important cultural festivals in Iberoamerica that takes place in october every year and fills the city with music, dance, poetry and more!
