On the rugged California coast, 25 miles south of San Francisco, historic 1875 fog signal station and lighthouse have been preserved and restored by HI-AYH and the California Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the Coast Guard. Explore the coastline; watch annual gray whale migration (Nov-April). Visit the nearby James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, a four-mile stretch of tide pools full of starfish, crabs, mussels, abalone, and sea anemones. Enjoy beaches, swim, surf, kayak, jog, horseback ride, windsurf and bicycle along the shore.

From March through July the hostel features a live video feed from The Common Murre Restoration Project: a sea bird colony located directly below Devil's Slide! August-February a recorded video is playing of the live footage from the previous season.

Directions

Bus:	From The Daly City BART station take the samtrans 110 to the Linda Mar park and ride. Transfer to the samtrans 294 and let the driver know you want to be dropped at the Pt. Montara Lighthouse stop.
Parking:	At hostel
Location:	The hostel is located 25 miles south of San Francisco at 16th St. and Coastal Hwy One between Montara and Moss Beach (look for hostel signs) - When travelling northbound Highway One, we hightly reccomend passing the hostel entrance and turning around in Montara, then entering the hostel driveway from the southbound lane
Rail:	AMTRAK to OAKLAND, CA THEN BART to Daly City station on the Millbrea line, then follow bus directions
Airport:	From SFO take 101 North to 380 West to 280 North to Hwy 1 South (Pacifica exit). Go south on Hwy 1 just south of Montara. On foot take BART to Daly City station and follow the bus intructions. From San Jose airport: 52 miles. Take Airport Parkway to Guadalupe Parkway/Highway 87. Take Hwy 101 north towards SF. Exit onto Hwy 92 west. At Half Moon Bay, take Hwy 1 north towards San Francisco to Hostel (between Montara and Moss Beach; watch for signs).
