When I arrived to the Hostel a staff member was sleeping in my bed. I was not given my money back for the night that I paid for. I was not able to use the bed that I paid for until 10 am because the didn't want to wake the staff member. My sheets were not clean and still had spittle and evidence of the staff member who was sleeping in it. I did not arrive to the hostel until about 6 am but I booked my room for the previous night so I wouldn't have to wait until 11 am to check in and sleep after traveling all night. There excuse was that I wasn't there until 6 am but I was still charged for the night and the entire week I was there a Staff member was sharing a room with me. The staff were incredibly unprofessional and gossiping behind the front desk the entire time.

Hostel response:
Thank you for your comments, it is unfortunate that your stay with us was not all that it could have been. Had you emailed us prior to your arrival that you would be arriving early and needed to be in the room first thing, I am sure we would have done our utmost to make sure that this was rectified. I would like to make it clear that it was another guest who took the bed you were allocated and not a member of our staff, as they have staff accommodation elsewhere. It would have been a matter of allocating another bed in the room in order to get you in however as the other guest had taken the bed that you were to be in, finding out which guest was which in a 10 bed room at 6am in the morning may not have been possible. I will be talking with the evening/early morning shift about this. With regards to your reservation, you booked to arrive on the 16th January and arrived on the 17th January, your reservation was charged for the night of the 16th as per the conditions of the no show terms and conditions. Possibly it would have been better to have booked a private room for your stay as this way nobody would have been able to spoil your stay. We hope that your time in Dublin was a lot more positive. Regards Misty Dublin International Hostel

Staff was great and even got me and my friend into a private room instead of a dorm. The breakfast in the morning was great and neat that it was in an old church.

Hostel response:

The lockers in the room were not working.

Hostel response:
Many thanks for your comments, the lockers work on a 3 point system which all need to aligned before they lock. We have noted this on our maintenance schedule and hope to take a look at it this week. We hope that overall you enjoyed your time here with us and that should you return to Dublin that we can look after you again. Kindest regards Misty Dublin International Hostel

The bed linen smelt of sweat and must - they need washing even though you use sheets on top or underneath the covers.

Hostel response:
Many thanks for your comments, we do change the other bed linen regularly and will be looking into the issue. We hope that should you return to Dublin that we can redeem ourselves in your eyes. Regards Misty Dublin International Hostel

staff great. hostel a bit run down in bedrooms and the self catering kitchen was woeful and short of equipment with only 3 forks, and had to pay a deposit for pans and pots. small thing as good sizing dining room and fellow travellers were friendly and talked in the kitchen. unclear where to put or pick up free food. ensuite bathroom had very good shower pressure, but was a bit lacking otherwise. enjoyed the continental breakfast. location very handy for Dublin attractions which a bonus

Hostel response:
Many thanks for your comments, we are sorry that the kitchen had not been stocked up completely on you arrival. We implemented the deposit system for the pots and pans, as we had a number of items being taken back to rooms or on to new apartments. We have ample cutlery and plates however a lot of this ends up also out at apartments or in the main restaurant, so that they do not have to clean it them selves. We try and re-stock the self catering kitchen in the morning of each breakfast shift and will continue to try and keep on top of this. We have put bigger signs on the free food baskets so hopefully they will be less confusing. We hope that should you visit Dublin again that you will stay with us again and we can redeem ourselves in your eyes.

The bathroom was a little creepy, but it worked and I had hot water, which is better than some of the hostels I've stayed in. My friend, however, said that the hot water in the guys' bathroom didn't work.

Hostel response:
Many thanks for your comments, as the showers are the push button types, it can take a while for the hot water to come through especially for the mens showers on the 2nd floor. We hope that you enjoyed your stay here with us and that should you return to Dublin that we can look after you again. Regards Misty Dublin International Hostel
