Heidelberg, the famous university town is situated on the river Neckar between the Odenwald Mountains and the Rhine. Numerous theatres, museums and historical buildings make for an exciting and educative trip. The old University, the town hall and the Church of the Holy Spirit bear witness to the town’s turbulent past. The castle towering above the town and dating back to 12 c. is a popular destination for day trips. Surrounded by leisure facilities like the zoo, sports grounds and a swimming pool, the youth hostel is located in the north west of the town, right on the river Neckar.

| 我们在火车站寄存的大件行李，六欧最大的箱子，放了四个皮箱一个大背囊。然后一出火车站左手边就有到住处门口的32号车，在车站售票机买的十张的打折票。住处在大学城，工作人员都是学生摸样，整个就像大学宿舍。我们住的六人房里三张上下铺的架子床，有书桌和衣柜，房内洗澡房和厕所是分开的，非常干净舒适。附近有动物园，植物园，大学城，环境也很好。 | ||

| Disappointed that there was no internet when the web site said that internet was available. The older woman I spoke to was a bit off-hand about the internet situation. | ||

| No kitchen - outside food is not allowed - which makes life a bit tricky for the budget traveller. Otherwise rooms are spacious and very clean, good storage, helpful staff. | ||

| There was a strong animal smell came into our room from the zoo.
The smell prevent us from opening the windows.
