Dresden hostel is 2km from Dresden's central railway station and offers easy access to the old town's churches and museums as well as making a good base for visits to Pillnitz and Moritzburg castles and the porcelain city of Meissen. There is capacity for 480 people and facilities include internet access, TV and meals.

The City is nestled in a landscape of rolling hills shaped by the river Elbe, between the town of Meissen and the “Saxon Switzerland” mountain range. This location has been particularly advantageous for development of the arts and for wine-growing and the locals are known for their jovial charm.

The capital of Saxony is a modern city that preserved its flair of a former royal residence - a place with a definite zest for life. Dresden has many attractions, extraordinary art collections, historic monuments and other cultural offerings. It’s a bustling city in an unspoiled natural environment. Since 2004 the Elbe water meadows are listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Dresden has a lot of entertainment on offer too: restaurants, trendy bars etc. The youth hostel is located in a central but quiet area, only a few minutes walk from the historic centre.

Room quite big and comfortable but general ambience a bit depressing (in my view).

Overall, I would rate the staff an 9 and the facilities a 6. The staff was always helpful and tried to help me out with my questions. The only reason I wouldn't rate the staff a 10 is because only one or two of them spoke English, which made it a bit difficult to communicate. The facilities are a 6 in my book because, while the location was good (close to the Bahnhof, old town and the tram), there was no free internet, no hot water in the showers and no lockers for luggage in the rooms. The only lockers available are small ones downstairs that you have to specifically ask to use and the don't fit much more than a laptop and a camera. I was lucky and ended up having my shared room to myself, but if anyone else was in the room with me, I don't know how safe my things would have been.

location and breakfast are all very good. it is easier to find from airport and main train station. double room like the standard hotel. An inconvenience is: it cannot give continious water during shower, one have to press the button again and again.

Very good. As every hostel in Germany, it is not so cheap. But it is very comfortable and has a good location.

I have been traveling for over 11 years staying at HI, and this is the very first time I had a single room for myself. It was even better (bigger) than the room I have as a student. I can't say the less, it has been the greatest place to stay.
