Hostel del Glaciar Libertador is located close to the Perito Moreno Glaciar, one of the 7 marvellous things in the world. From here you will have the chance to go trekking in the area and on the glaciar. Look for our free shuttle at bus terminal station!

Located in Avenida del Libertador, Calafate's main street, the hostel is run by the Feldmans, backed by their 20 years of experience in hostels in Patagonia. The services we offer besides accommodation (tours, meals, transportation, etc) ensure you'll get superior quality and a pleasant vacation. This hostel was inaugurated by the Nation's Secretary of Tourism and all the local authorities in April 2004, a true honor which makes us proud. For our guests, this means the peace of mind of knowing we have been recognized by the highest local and national authorities. We are also members of the internationally prestigious Hostelling International network. Glaciar Libertador Hostel features both shared and private rooms, to guarantee a wide selection depending on your budget and preferences.

the computers are VERY old, so are the screens. it was hard to look at them for more than a few minutes. investing in new computers shouldn´t be very expensive and for the price i paid i should have expecting nothing less. also the breakfast that was included in the price cannot really be called breakfast... either say that breakfast is not included or change it.

Very good location, the staff can help us in booking of tours, bus services to airport. A 4 bed dorm attached with shower room and toilet is more than I can ask. Large kitchen hall and cooking facilities is just fine for a backpacker like me.

The facilities were the nicest of all hostels I stayed in Argentina. But in contrast to what the leaflet says they can only sell you their own tours, which don´t include walking on Perito Moreno. So if you want to walk on South Americas most famous glaciar you have to go to a travel agent.

The alternative glacier tour to Perito Moreno was excellent and good value. It was good to have an en suite bathroom with hot, powerful showers.

We had a couple issues. One was that we could not use a credit card or travellers checks to pay for our stay. I had been told this in advance, but because we are moving from town to town quickly I was not really prepared and it was a bit of an issue for us. Second and more importantly, the lock on our door broke the second day we were there. This happened in the morning when we had to rush off to an excursion. We felt we had to quickly put our bags in storage (which is also not secure) before we left on our day long excursion. We told the front desk about our problem in the morning but they had not fixed the lock during the day, so when we got back from the excursion we had to have the lock fixed. This was done quickly and well, but it should have been done during the day. I think the problem was the staff did not believe that the lock was broken, only that we couldn't figure out how to use it. We missed breakfast because of it.
