With Bradley Wiggins being born in this Belgian city it’s no surprise that it is quite a draw for cycling groups. Host of the Six Days of Flanders ( a six day cycle race which takes place in November each year), Ghent attracts cyclists from all over the world to compete and watch this prestigious event.
The HI De Draecke is perfectly placed for sports groups to set up camp for this – there are also long distance cycling routes on the doorstep of the hostel. But equally it is in a great location for visitors to explore this grand city of culture which was once the heart of the linen industry in Belgium. With museums (the museum of contemporary art include works by Andy Warhol), a café culture on the banks of the river and a 10 day long Festival of Ghent being held in July, there really is something for everyone to see in this vibrant city.
