Serbia: Country Overview
Hike through forested hills and along rolling pastureland; ski in quiet resorts; visit medieval towns and ancient churches; explore great limestone caves with sparkling crystals; relax in thermal springs. Yugoslavia comprises the two regions of Serbia and Montenegro and offers a wide range of scenery from snow-capped mountains to long, empty beaches. Montenegro features a dramatic coastline along the Adriatic Sea, sprinkled with quiet seaside resorts and dotted with medieval fortresses - including those of the splendid city of Budvar. Serbia offers majestic mountains, with good skiing around Kopaonik and Brezovica, as well as glorious landscapes of lakes, rivers and waterfalls. It also boasts more than 140 mineral water springs, and has 53 spa centres located across the country. Yugoslavia's hostels provide easy access to many of the highlights of Serbia and Montenegro and most can provide a variety of activity packages from winter and water sports to trekking.Membership
