Denmark is probably the oldest kingdom in the world - and certainly boasts Europe's most long-standing monarchy, which is descended from the 10th-century Viking king, Gorm the Old. Main hostels open throughout the year, 24 hours. Reception open: 08:00-12:00;16:00-20:00hrs 1 Jul-15 Sep, 08:00-10:00hrs; 16:00-18:00hrs 16 Sep-Jun. Seasonal hostels are generally open Apr-Sep.
